Synopsis
Bertitik tolak daripada kejayaan dan penerimaan positif terhadap program Raja Lawak; sebuah program realiti pencarian bakat untuk menjadi pelapis dalam bidang lawak jenaka dan komedi di kalangan rakyat Malaysia, Astro buat julung kalinya mempersembahkan Maharaja Lawak; sebuah lagi program pencarian pelawak terunggul di kalangan yang terhebat yang bakal bersiaran secara langsung pada setiap hari Jumaat, jam 10.00 malam bermula 1 April 2011 menerusi Astro Warna (saluran 132) dalam Pakej Mustika.

Program Maharaja Lawak ini juga akan dikemudikan oleh AC Mizal yang telah diberi kepercayaan untuk menggalas tanggungjawab sebagai pengacara selama 10 minggu bersiaran.
